Remaining NY Game Farm animals may go to sanctuaries

CATSKILL, N.Y. Weeks after advocates bought 205 animals at the Catskill Game Farm auction, a few of the creatures remain at the site.

The Game Farm closed last month and auctioned off about half of its 2,000 animals. A group called Advocates for Game Farm Animals partnered with another animal rights groups to buy as many animals as possible. Advocates wanted to make sure the animals didn’t end up at “canned hunt” operations.

Some of the 205 animals have gone to sanctuaries in Maryland, Pennsylvania and western New York. Advocates are now trying to place the last of the animals.

Animals without a home are expected to wind up at sanctuaries.
