Retiring reporter once mauled by lion at an Ohio mall

CLEVELAND — It hasn’t just been Folks and Feasts for Channel 3’s Del Donahoo. He’s met a number of animals too.

Del has been to the Great Geauga County Fair tilling the soil — pioneer style.

He’s also seen dancing horses and visited with Richard the working rooster at Hale Farm and Village.

But maybe the most memorable moment was Del’s encounter with Fester, the loveable lion.

Del finds out that even a loveable is a wild animal.

While filming his story, Del was mauled in front of mall visitors by Fester, requiring a trip to the hospital.

Many might say Del’s accident shouldn’t be included, but Del insisted because this famous encounter did have a “happy ending.”
