Rs 97.65 lakh given to Tiger Foundation

Bhopal, June 5: Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai has provided Rs 97.65 lakh 65 thousand to Madhya Pradesh Tiger Foundation for strengthening the basic structures of conservation in tiger reserves in the state. Minister of State for Forests and chairman of Tiger Foundation Society Rajendra Shukla informed that these funds would be utilised in Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench Tiger reserves. He said that this amount has been provided by Hemendra Kothari of Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai.

According to Shukla, an MoU has also been signed between Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh Tiger Foundation Society on utilisaton of this amount. The Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai has also offered Rs 20 lakh assistance for rewarding people giving secret information in tiger reserves and training and rewarding employees.

He informed that out of this amount, Rs 45.13 lakh has been allocated for Kanha tiger reserve, Rs 28.78 lakh for Bandhavgarh and Rs 23.74 lakh for Pench tiger reserve.

Minister of State Shukla said that the funds allocated for Kanha tiger reserve will be spent on seven patrolling vehicles and providing water filters, gas cylinders, mosquito nets and iron boxes for patrolling camps while the funds allocated for Bandhavgarh tiger reserve will be spent on three patrolling vehicles and providing water tanks, boots, gas connections etc for patrolling camps.

Shukla said that Rs 23.74 lakh allocated for Pench tiger reserve will be spent on four patrolling vehicles and for providing camp coats, water purifiers, steel boxes etc for patrolling camps.
