Big Cat Updates

Natalia Leopard was moved to a new enclosure with a brand new air-conditioned den.  Being an Amur leopard the hot Florida afternoons were uncomfortable for her. Amur leopards are naturally found in a much colder climate.

Coordinator Report – Devin Saari

Very eventful day today!  Fun day of projects, promotions, and cat moves!

Tons of volunteers came in to help with feeding, cleaning, and projects.

Maya’s enclosure (now Nat’s) was finished today and we added dirt all around the cage to hide the tree roots to make it safer for keepers to walk around

Volunteers and interns who needed sign-offs got them today

The ‘cicle cats loved their icy treats on this very hot day

A camera was set up in front of Hoover’s new feeding slab so that we can monitor how much he is eating

Natalia was moved to Maya’s old enclosure next to Reise and Mac. Reise and Mac will now be cleaned by green keepers. Yellow keepers when cleaning will only clean the cubs for now.

That’s all for today!
-Devin Saari

Coordinator Report – Lauren Buckingham

Cameron ate really well, he mostly wanted pork, turkey breast, and drums.

Andre was a little more difficult.  It took a little while both in the morning and evening to get him to eat.  He took his meds in necks.

I left 10 pounds of food for Hoover Tiger.  His meds and supplements were in the pork strips.  Those are the only pork strips in his meal so they are easy to identify.  Today he has stayed mostly on his platform.  He did eat really well the night before.

That’s all for me,
-Lauren Buckingham
