Big Cat Updates

URGENT PLEA for Foster Kitten Needs

1cc Luer slip syringes for the foster kittens? They were all exposed to coccidia, a parasite, and all needed preventative medication. That wiped out my syringe supply.  I hesitate to say how many I need because I will use them all eventually, so people can donate what they want.

I could also use disposable litter boxes, digital thermometers and washable toys. Thank you!

Calls of the Wild

The most important thing you can do, every week for big cats, is quick, easy, and free.  Are you doing it?  The Call of the Wild can help save big cats and their babies from a life of abuse, deprivation, and exploitation.  PLEASE, keep up with making these calls, every week at BigCatAct.com

Coordinator Report – Angie Gabor

What an awesome day it was today!!! It was super hot and humid, but everyone was having fun!!

We had lots of tours today!! 5 Regular tours, 2 Special tours, 1 Prívate tour, and both Feeding and Keeper tours.

We had a workgroup from Stetson Law School that did an excellent job making Des’ open-air enclosure spick and span!! They were enthusiastic hard workers!!!

Our Volunteer Orientation today had 5 potential volunteers. Welcome!!

Lots of sign-offs were done today. Yellow Keeper Barbara Ann got the Enrichment class and her first observation sign-off. Intern Abbey and Green Keeper Sarah C got Big Cat Operant Conditioning sign-offs. Senior Keeper Steven and Yellow Keeper Daniel got Feeding sign-offs.

Big thank you to Master Keeper Rich for helping fix and clean our golf carts and to Red Keeper Amanda for helping wash dishes. Also, thanks to Green Keeper MC who comes in every Saturday afternoon to help keep our cats healthy.

I really appreciate all of the Interns, Keeper and Partner volunteers that came in and worked hard today on this very hot day!!!!
You All Rock!! ?

Unfortunately, Roger has come down with a kitty cold so will have to wait till next time.

Frosty Serval’s Update

We have turned Frosty loose in the Cat Hospital because the flies bother him too much outside and he doesn’t move around enough in a hospital cage to get his digestive track moving.  Frosty is very very old. Here is the link to his live webcam. https://video.nest.com/live/NQ7kjJBcmF

Keeper Alyssa Engiles: Highlight of the Day!

Today, I had the pleasure of taking Danielle (Dani) on a private tour. Dani is a fan of BCR and cats in general and loves servals. We had a great time hanging out in serval row and she told me some fun cat facts! Dani is a great advocate for the cats, she and her family all have made the call of the wild- and she has an idea to use her baking skills as a way to promote more big cat conservation! It was a delight to meet her and to have a chance to share her love of BCR and servals!

( I hope I spelled her name/nickname correctly). The cross stitch she did is truly adorable!
