Coordinator Report – Devin Saari

Great day today although it was quite rainy at some points.

Thank you to Marie Schoubert, Mary Gagliordi, Mazz Amirat, Brittany Mira, Fred Pagan, and Dylan Lavigne for feeding and cleaning today. We had just enough people to get everything done. Marie Schoubert also did the cicle cats. Then after cleaning Mazz Amirat and Fred Pagan did food-prep

Thank you again to everyone who came out in the rain today!

Interesting Article

Another comprehensive article has been published about notorious big cat abuser Joe Schreibvogel and his attempt last year to hire a hitman to kill Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin. We hope the “take away” from these articles is that big cats should not be bred and forced to endure unnatural lives of exploitation in captivity. http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/09/joe-exotic-and-his-american-animals.html

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Kitten Report

MALACHITE – Malachite napped in the afternoon until Brittany and Karma came in to clean his cages. After they gave him clean blankets and fresh water and food, he came out and checked things out. Then he found his dinner and chowed down. After that, he played and played! He played with his stuffie, batting it all over and he carried it in his mouth around his cage. He wrestled with it too. He played with his blanket, diving into it, wrestling with it, and biting it. He really seems to love diving into it and then burying his face in it. So cute!

He ran the length of his cages, really fast back and forth, back and forth, pouncing on his blanket and stuffie, lol. He played with his scratching post, attacking and biting it, lol. Then he tried to find a way out, standing on his hind legs and reaching up to the top of the cage with his front legs. Silly boy!

He played like that quite a while and then he wore himself out and settled down for a nap in his back cage. He napped there for a while and then he was back up playing again. He also just sat and looked out the end of his cage and listened to the sounds. He played with his stuffie and blanket some more and then he went to the back of his cage to nap again. A while later he was up again, playing. He was very active overnight. His last nap was the longest and then Flint woke him up by his playing. He just sat in his back cage listening. Sweet little Bobcat. As I write this, he is still back there listening to Flint. He is so cute! Love him too! 🙂

FLINT – Precious Flint played up a storm in the afternoon. He had some food left over from breakfast and he played and played with it, lol. Batting it around and flipping it up in the air. When he was done playing he ate it. Then he played with the mouse disc toy a bit, batting at the mouse. He really had fun with his blanket, scooting it all over, diving under it and rolling in it, lol. So adorable! He played with his enrichment box, pushing it clear up in front of his camera from the back wall. He always has so much fun!

After a while, Brittany came in to clean his room, lay out his toys and blankets and give him fresh water and food. When he got back in the room he did his usual check of the room and his things. Then he played with his blanket, diving on it and scooting it around, lol. He played with his bird stuffie, batting it all over and carrying it around the room, running with it. He’s so cute!

He ate some of his dinner and then settled down on top of his hut to bathe and then take a nice long nap. Later he woke up and ran around and played with his stuffie for a short time, then he played with his hut running and attacking it, pushing it to the back left the corner of his room. He ran and jumped up on the camera carrier and played up there for a bit, then he cuddled up on his hut to take another nap.

He napped for quite a while and then as it started getting light, he was up playing like mad again. He played in his box and he played with his stuffie and hut. He is just too cute….he was carrying his stuffie and his hut in his mouth at the same time, he carried them around the room, lol! I went to take a screenshot of him and had to do a double-take, then I missed getting the photo. It was so cute!

He was dragging them to the back of the room where he has all of the rest of his things, lol. He played with everything! He was even trying to get into the carrier holding his camera. I did get a photo of that and included it. You will know which one it is, lol. He is just too adorable for words! As I write this, he is still playing and trying to get into the camera carrier. Silly precious boy! LOVE him!!! 🙂

ASH and CINDER – Ash and Cinder lounged and napped all afternoon on top of the tall platform in the very back section. They did wake up once and play on the hanging logs for a short time and then got back up on the platform to nap some more. They napped and/or stayed out view well into the night.

Later they finally came up front and wandered around, then played. They wrestled on the Coolaroo for a bit, then they played blanket monster on there, again. They are so cute pouncing around on it! They zoomed around chasing each other and then Cinder paced the fence and Ash lounged on the Coolaroo.

After a bit they were back to zooming all over, leaping over the log pile, playing and chasing each other. They played for a while and then they disappeared into the middle section for a while. They came back into the front section after a while and played some more, wrestling on the Coolaroo and zooming around.

Something caught their attention up in the tree and they were focused on that for a bit. As it started to get light, they continued to play and chase each other around. They zoomed up on the hanging shelf and then bounced off of the den, ran around and did it again, lol. They are too cute!

They played for a while longer and then Cinder went to pace the fence and Ash continued to run around and play. They had so much fun! As I write this, they are lounging and napping together on the hanging shelf. So adorable! Love them!! 🙂

Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
