Sisters do it for themselves at Dreamworld

Sisters do it for themselves at Dreamworld

July 11, 2008 – 12:54PM

Nearly a month after their birth, three Sumatran tiger cubs on the Gold Coast have finally been given names.

The trio – all girls – are the newest addition to tourist park Dreamworld’s Tiger Island attraction, and have been christened Shanti, Jaya and Ndari following two separate naming competitions.

Two Dreamworld staffers nominated Jaya and Ndari – Indonesian for victory and full moon – while Shanti, meaning inner peace, was chosen from about 4500 public suggestions.

The sisters’ entry into the world about three weeks ago was initially marked with some confusion, with keepers mistaking one of the cubs for a boy until closer examination by a vet.
