Tiger cub abandoned during forest fire dies

One of the three tiger cubs trapped in a forest fire died in the terai-west division on Tuesday.

Animal activists expressed fear that the mother of these cubs may have fallen to a poacher as she was not found anywhere near the site where her cubs were found trapped in the fire in the hitherto protected Army area in Hempur that falls in the terai-west forest division’s Kashipur area.

The post mortem of the tiger cub has been carried out which established that it was about 15 days old and died after coming in contact with the wildfire. At the same time, intense combing has been launched in this wildfire-affected area to trace if there are any more wildlife casualties or any other loss of forest property, the DFO further informed.
