BANGALORE: The carcass of a full-grown tiger was found in the early morning hours at Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) on Wednesday. The dead male tiger named Araq, was 17 years old.

The animal was one of the six that were brought from London in 2002, said a senior Park official.

Deputy Conservator of- Forests Venkatesh said that it was the third casualty of the remaining four tigers.

Though a post mortem was conducted, the cause of the death has remained unknown.

The park officials do not susppect foul play.

Venkatesh says that old age could have been a reason behind the tiger’s death.

Captive tigers live for 17- 20 years while those in the wild live for 10-12 years, he added.
