The Master Plan for Ludhiana zoo (Tiger Safari) is ready and it will be advertised soon for public objections before implementing it formally. This was told by district forest officer (DFO) Vishal Chauhan while talking to Newsline.
He said, “As per the master plan, we will be spending Rs 2 crore for development of this zoo in the coming 20 years. To add more attraction for masses, crocodile and leopard chambers will be made and animals will also be shifted to this zoo. A butterfly garden, snake enclosures and much more is on the cards.”
This plan was formally submitted to the financial commissioner, Forest, RK Nayyar during his visit to the city last week.
In addition to this, the department has even collected Rs 1 lakh for adoption of animals like deer, birds etc. They are also looking forward to collecting money for adoption of five tigers but so far no one has come forward. The DFO said, “Rs 84,000 is the amount for adoption of a tiger per annum basis, so we are contacting corporate houses to help. “
