As you may know, this past November Animal Defenders International (ADI), alongside Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA), introduced federal legislation intended to ban the use of wild animals in traveling circuses.  This legislation, called the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act (H.R. 3359), now has 18 cosponsors and has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry and is awaiting a hearing.

We could use your help in spreading the word to your members and helping locate articulate constituents to meet in the district office of their Member of Congress to ask for their support for the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act.

Our Grassroots Break the Chain website www.breakthechainus.org  has talking points, sample letters, and news about the bill.

Our site for Members of Congress and their staff www.federalcircusbill.org has the language, congressional briefs providing the evidence, and other information.

Other ways to support circus animals and the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act:

  • ·         Share our TEAPA action alert to Congress on Facebook and Twitter. In less than a minute your friends can send an email to their member of Congress asking for their support for HR 3359.
  • ·         Also, we are 50-50 on this legislative poll on POPVOX and it’s another easy thing for people to do, please share!

We hope to schedule a call with you soon to further discuss our mutual goal to protect animals,

Sincerely,

Matt Rossell
