Clyde Butcher Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of his Big Cypress Gallery

Clyde Butcher Big Cypress Gallery

Date: February 16-17, 2013, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and February 18, 2013 9:00 am to 12 Noon

The public is invited to join famed photographer Clyde Butcher and his wife Niki for the 20th anniversary celebration of the Big Cypress Gallery in the Florida Everglades. The anniversary weekend activities will take place at Clyde Butcher’s Big Cypress Gallery in the Big Cypress Preserve, Western Everglades during the annual open house on February 16-18, 2013. During the three-day President’s weekend event, guests are invited to meet the photographer, take guided swamp tours, and learn about Butcher’s 20 years of displaying unique and beautiful black and white photography at the gallery.

Save the Florida Panther Day at the Naples Zoo

Naples Zoo

Date: March 2, 2013, 9 am to 5 pm

Premiering ahead of the state’s official Save the Florida Panther Day to promote the official celebration, Naples Zoo is hosting its annual Save the Panther event in cooperation with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Zoo visitors will meet panther field biologists at special presentations at the Panther Glade exhibit. Activities for children and opportunities to get involved in panther conservation by joining the Friends of Florida Panther Refuge will also be available.

Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge Open House

Date: March 16, 2013 7:30 am to 1:00 pm

Come and enjoy presentations, guide walks and swamp buggy tours of the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge with refuge biologists. Food provided by FFPR. Free Event

Directions: I-75 Exit 80. Turn left on State Road 29, heading north. The open House will be held at Rodger Roth Work Center 1/2 mile north of the I-75/SR29 interchange

CREW Wildflower Festival

Date: April 6, 2013 8:30 am to 2:00 pm

Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW) will host its annual WILDFLOWER FESTIVAL with guided wildflower hikes and educational exhibits . Hikes will take place at CREW Cypress Dome Trails, 3980 Corkscrew Road, Immokalee, with exhibits at the trailhead. Hike cost: $4 for CREW members, $6 for nonmembers; Two family hikes (for families with children) will be offered for $8/family (CREW members), $10/family (non-members). HIKE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.
