Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), Oct 30(PTI) The process of tiger census in the country has begun with Wildlife Institute of India starting training programme for the same.
Director of Dehradun-based WII, PR Sinha today said that four places have been identified across the country for the training purpose, which would cover 17 states housing the elusive wild cat.
The training at Jim Corbett National park would be held on November 2, while in Bandipore it would be conducted on November 10 and in Kaziranga on November 17, Sinha said, adding that the training has already been conducted in Ranthambore.
After training, personnel would start the tiger count and WII would announce the final results by November next year, he said.
