Vietnam: Tiger killers arrested
VietNamNet Bridge – After a month long investigation, Tien Giang Province and HCM City police on Monday, August 14, arrested two men in District 12, HCM City, believed to have rustled and killed the tiger that resided at the Dong Tam Snake Farm.
Police seized exhibit A for the case – the body of the tiger – that was being kept in a large freezer at a house in Tan Thoi Hiep, Ward, District 12, owned by a woman named Nguyen Thi Yen.
Two men were arrested at the house: Nguyen Van Tuan, 29 and Nguyen Phuoc Hiep 35.
On June 29, thieves broke into the Dong Tam Snake Farm in Binh Duc Commune, Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province, and killed the 150kg tiger and steal its carcass. They killed the tiger on the spot.
The farm’s guards found the entrails of the tiger and three sets of gloves near the tiger’s cage. No information was available as to why the farm was keeping the endangered tiger.
