A white Bengal tiger attacked and killed another tiger at the Gulf Shores Zoo Sunday. Rajah, the park’s star attraction, bit and strangled Anastasia, a younger, female tiger in front of zoo visitors.

"We introduced them a few months ago," says Patti Hall. Hall is the zoo director. "The cats were under supervised play and we just put them in the same cage last week. There were no problems and we thought everything was going well."

Hall contacted the United States Department of Agriculture about the attack. The Zoological Association of America was also notified.

"I think Jack Hanna said it best, when you’re dealing with exotic animals, you’re dealing with a loaded gun, you do it very carefully and you never know when the thing might go off on you."
