The Sunday Times of London reported that animal welfare groups such as the Born Free Foundation have condemned the Paradise Wildlife Park’s feeding practice, calling it dangerous for guests.
“These are wild animals,” Born Free Chief Executive Will Travers said. “This is an accident waiting to happen.”
The groups’ criticism comes in the wake of two unrelated deaths at a pair of overseas zoos involving tigers who mauled guests.
Despite those incidents and the warnings from the animal welfare groups, the owners of Paradise Wildlife Park have stood behind their practice.
The owners of the park in the county of Hertfordshire told the British newspaper the feeding practice has been sanctioned by British zoo inspectors.
