Zoo Atlanta reveals new tiger cubs’ names
ATLANTA — Officials at Zoo Atlanta confirmed in a release Tuesday that the new tiger cubs at the zoo – one male and one female – have been named.
The male cub has been named Sanjiv, while the female has been given the name Sohni. The names — Sanjiv meaning “love”, “long life” and “reviving”; and Sohni, which means “beautiful” — were selected by Zoo Atlanta donor and former zoo board of directors member Larry Westbrook. Westbrook says he named them for his grandchildren.
Sanjiv weighs in at 12.25 pounds, officials said, while his sister is slightly smaller, at 10.84 pounds.
The cubs will make their public debut at the zoo in early September.
