May 31, 2023 Late afternoon update:

We do not know if this Savannah cat is male or female.

He/she was named Sudsy Meow because they were found in a detached laundry room.

Sudsy was very hungry and ate the fish first off the plate of all different types of foods we provided.

Sudsy did have a microchip and we have his number and have contacted his original breeder.

Sudsy Meow quite relaxed on the cat tree in the recovery cabana.

UPDATE July 5, 2023

We have an important update regarding Sudsy Meow, the Savannah cat who found refuge in an outdoor laundry room and was rescued by us on May 31, 2023.

We are committed to the lifetime care of the big cats we rescue, but sometimes situations are a bit more complex. Sudsy Meow was found to have a microchip, identifying him as the property of a hybrid cat breeder. While we at Big Cat Rescue do not support the breeding of hybrid cats, we must respect the property laws in Florida.

We want to assure you that Sudsy Meow was neutered before coming to us, so he will not contribute to further breeding. His registered owner’s husband will be picking him up today.

We understand that this news may be disappointing to some, but we are committed to acting within the law and ensuring the welfare of all cats. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

  1. I know, BCR, that you had to bide by the law ~ we all do ~ but I was hoping and praying that BCR would become Sudsy’s permanent home. I know he would have received loving care there.
We can always keep our fingers crossed and hands folded that the owners would change their minds and bring him back.
