800 Help FL

New Fundraising Rules 2014

Most nonprofit organizations engaged in fundraising in or from Florida must include a campaign disclosure on all solicitations, receipts, confirmations or reminders of a contribution.

Under the new law, this disclosure must also include a link to the Division of Consumer Services of the Department of Agriculture’s website.

The following link should be included on all of your campaign disclosures: www.800helpfla.com.

Here is a sample disclosure (which must be in ALL CAPS):

A COPY OF THE OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION FOR BIG CAT RESCUE, A FL-BASED NONPROFIT CORPORATION (REGISTRATION NO. CH 11409), MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES BY CALLING TOLL-FREE 1-800-435-7352 WITHIN THE STATE OR BY VISITING www.800helpfla.com. REGISTRATION DOES NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT, APPROVAL, OR RECOMMENDATION BY THE STATE.

The Department has also released a summary of the law’s requirements here https://www.freshfromflorida. com/Divisions-Offices/ Consumer-Services/Business- Services/Charitable- Organizations.
