Valentine’s Day Bobcat Rescue
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018 Carole got a call from a rehabber that does not rehab Florida Bobcats. Someone had dropped a Florida Bobcat off at their gate. Carole went and picked the cat up. We have very few details because the rehabber simply found the cat dumped at her gate.Carole brought the cat back to the sanctuary. The team saw no visible injuries and the cat did not act hurt or sick. We will, however, keep her in the small hospital cage until morning so we can observer her, closely.
After determining there did not seem to be any injuries, Keeper Becky fed her about 8 ounces of ground meat and a rat, all of which she happily ate.
She appears to be 10 to 11 months old and weighs 14 pounds.
We have named her Aphrodite after the goddess of love since she was found on Valentine’s Day.
Tomorrow, we will prepare the rehab cage that has the great Explore cam on it and move her outside for observation. Friday, she will come back to the hospital for blood work and exam.
