How Would You Feel?

We started raising funds for a new wall back in December 2003. After the 2006 attack we redoubled our efforts. The perimeter of our 69 acres is 8600 feet.We built the first 1000 feet of wall in 2008, built another 660 feet in 2010, and in 2011 are building 3300 feet under construction as this is written. The wall system we are using, Rhino Wall,is particularly suited to our terrain because we cannot get cranes or other motorized equipment to much of the perimeter. The unique Rhino panels are made of dense foam clad in aluminum on both sides. The result is a very strong but very light weight panel that one man can lift. The aluminum H posts are set in concrete three feet in the ground. The panels are then slid between the posts and screwed in created a wall rated to resist hurricane winds up to 130 mph.In the photo here you see Malcolm LeBlanc (white shirt and glasses) and his crew working on the 2200 feet of wall along the north border. The other photo shows a section of wall we erected in our tour waiting area. This is where the names of all the donors to the wall will be permanently on display. The sign for those who donated through the end of 2010 and another for 2011 is being printed as this page is being updated, with room to add future donors who will be hand written in as they donate, then printed at the end of 2011.
